The Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Dolls - a boy and a girl - are a world-first collaboration between @axis_toys, the distributor of Miniland Dolls in Australia and New Zealand and Miniland Educational in Spain, to create an Aboriginal Dolls range for Australia. Like all Miniland Dolls, they have been created around Miniland’s core values of diversity, respect and inclusion!
The Dolls were developed in consultation with several Indigenous Australians including the renowned artist, Garry Purchase, with 3.5% of proceeds from sales being donated to Aboriginal community-led organisation, Children’s Ground. These funds will directly support communities in the Northern Territory who are seeking a different future for the next generation of Aboriginal children across education, health and well-being, employment and
These dolls will give kids of all backgrounds the opportunity to learn more about Australia’s First Nations People, their history and culture told though the best storytelling of all – kids- play.”
At What Dolly Wore we are excited for these dolls which aim to represent First Nations Australians. We would like to be transparent in our sales of these dolls and acknowledge we are non-Indigenous sisters aiming to provide dolls to children which represent the diversity of our rich Australian society. Through play we hope these dolls can lead to your children deepening their learning of the culture of our First Nations people, the oldest continuing culture in the world.
If you purchase the Miniland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander dolls from What Dolly Wore, all profits from our first month of sales of these dolls will be donated to Children’s Ground and following the 10th of July we will then continue to match the donation offered by Axis Toys and donate 3.5% of our profits to Children’s Ground.
We hold no affiliation to Childrens Ground or the following brands though encourage you to explore brands owned and operated by First Nations people.
